The South East

The South East of England has a number of examples of some excellent bandstands, many in coastal resorts. It also has an example of one of the most modern designs of a bandstand in the country.

The Bandstand at the De La Warr Pavillion, Bexhill-on-Sea

Unveiled in 2001, this extraordinary piece of work was designed by Niall McLaughlin Architects and is made from fibreglass and plywood on a steel frame. Unusually it is mobile and can therefore be moved to create new entertainment spaces in the vicinity of the De La Warr Pavillion.
