The North East
The North East provides some fine examples of bandstands with two excellent examples in Newcastle itself.

The Bandstand in Leazes Park, Newcastle Upon Tyne
The look of the Leazes Park bandstand belies its age for this is a replica of the previous structure and was completed in only 2003. The park itself was first opened in 1873 and the bandstand was added a little later. Inspection of photographs of the original stand show how closely the current one is to it. The bandstand sits in the shadow of St James' Park, the home of Newcastle United Football Club.

The Bandstand at Exhibition Park, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Built as part of the Jubilee Exhibition of 1887, to celebrate 50years on the throne for Queen Victoria, the bandstand in Exhibition Park is the only original structure left standing. Not in a great state of repair, it looks sadly neglected and unwanted.
