The 4 year celebration of the Culture of the UK

 leading up to the 2012 Games.

The Cultural Olympiad is a celebration of the cultures, people and languages in the UK and around the world; it's four year programme kicked off on 26-28 September 2008 with a huge range of inspirational activities across the UK.

The Bandstand Marathon played a major part in the Launch Weekend events in the South West, bringing towns and parks to life with music.

The Bandstand Marathon will spread throughout the UK over the next four years to climax in 2012.
